About Jody Chenoweth

Jody began drawing cartoons while in high school in the mid-forties. She became very frustrated because every sketch and painting she made came out looking like cartoons. However, her art teacher told her not to worry--that someday she'd be glad she could draw cartoons. Jody married right out high school and her cartooning was put on hold until her four kids were older.

In the 1960's, Jody and Fred started breeding and showing Shetland Sheepdogs. During that time, she did Sheltie cartoons for three different breed magazines. In 1983, Jody bought five AMHA Miniature mares and a stallion, and soon began doing cartoons of the many HILARIOUS things that happen to Miniature Horses and their owners.

These cartoons, titled The Small Side , have appeared in The Miniature Horse World and The Pony Journal , and were a regular feature in The Miniature Horse News .

Other artistic endeavors have included the cover for Kathy Atchley's book, For Love of the Miniature Horse , illustrations for a childrens book called Silly Sue , and a poetry book, Just For the Fun of it, and illustrations for Sandy Martin's book, Tips and Hints for Horsekeeping .

Jody is currently working on a children's book (in poetry form) named The Great Cloud Debate , filled with all the different cloud formations. When she's not cartooning or horsing around, Jody's hobbies are writing poetry and Country-Western song lyrics, for which she has won several awards in both categories.
